Research Overview
Research has shown that stroke survivors and their family members would like more information about their recovery when they are on a stroke unit, including how much recovery will take place, how long it might take and what they can do to help. During this study, we aim to develop ways to improve conversations about recovery on stroke units, by working together with stroke survivors and their family members and stroke healthcare professionals. We will do this by holding up to five meetings, one per month, each lasting around 1 hour. Meetings will be held online using an online platform, such as Microsoft Teams or Skype, and be attended by a small group of stroke survivors, carers and healthcare professionals. At these meetings, we will decide what kinds of information should be provided and when, and how it will be delivered in practice.
